Ok first blog ever...so excited!
So the "Cabbage Soup Diet"
Long story short, I lost about 35-40lbs about 2 1/2 years ago after I had my daughter. I was working out everyday, eating healthy & feeling great! Ya know what you are "suppose to do" if you want to lose weight or just plain get healthy. I ended up gaining all the weight back & was right back to were I was before, I did all of that hard work & right down the drain it went. What a waste of time & energy. Anyways a couple of weeks ago I heard about this "Cabbage Soup Diet" & I was like I can totally do this, 7 days, a piece of cake. It was a Saturday so of course I gave my self the whole "I am eating whatever I want today & I will start tomorrow (Sunday) speech". Needless to say Sunday went about the same as Saturday & I ate EVERYTHING I wanted. So Monday morning I was so hungry & I was like I can't eat anything until I make this damn soup! I went to the grocery store & spent about $70 on all of the ingredients that I needed for the soup & the rest of the items on the diet menu to get me through the week. I got home & started slicing & dicing. Finally all of the veggies (including cabbage of course) were chopped up, in the pot & cooking. The recipe said that it would take 2 hours to cook, now this first day all I can eat is soup & fruit, so I am chowing down on a variety of fruits thinking "this is gonna be a breeze". 5 1/2 hours later the soup is done after I cranked the heat up, twice as high as the recipe said to cook it. I ate the soup & it actually tasted good, really it was good. Half way through the 2nd day after a shit load of veggies & a lot of cabbage soup I was at work with no more veggies left & a bowl of soup in the fridge I told my co-worker I would be right back, I had to heat up my soup. I decided to scarf it down in the break room because I really wanted some real food, didn't want to breakdown & eat something I shouldn't have & wanted to get that bowl over with. I literally almost threw up, "Uhhhh...I don't think I can do this" but I did. The next couple of days went by & I was doing good but I still wanted some real food, I couldn't wait for beef & tomatoe day (mainly the beef)! Day 5, I had 3 New York strips it was f~in GREAT! I actually told my boyfriend that I was going to be a master steak cheif by the end of the week...LOL. The next day I ate the same thing with a lot of brocolli. Day 7 (AHHHHH) the last day, brown rice. I was liking the brown rice, I never made it before, it was not like I expected it to be. I cheated, I put butter spray on the rice. The spray has 0% as far as all of the fat, calories, etc. on the lable, I needed some flovor damn it! At the end of this day I also cheated with a salad from Mc'Donalds with low fat italian dressing, hey it could have been way worse. The next day I had done it! Victory, now lets see what the scale says. I weighed myself the morning of day 1 & the morning after day 7 I had lost 7 lbs. Wooo~Whoo! A pound a day for 7 days that's great & all but I could have done that by eating really healthy & counting calories on the first 7 days of just a regular ol' diet, but hey i'm not complaining 7lbs is 7lbs. Thats when it hit me though from the 8th day & about a week after my stomach was...lets just say F~ed! I wouldn't recomend this to jump sart a diet because of the after math, it's not really worth it. If you need to lose weight for an event I would definatly say do it 2 weeks ahead of time, drop some pounds & maintain for a week before the event. But, be prepared for what happens to your body when it's over, that's your choice. Good luck, be safe & let me know how it worked for you. Who knows I might try again some day in the future if I'm tring to look 7lbs more slim for an event or fit into an outfit, but I would definatly make a few different kinds of cabbage soup with different types of spices & things just to have some variety for the week, I would definatly recomend a variety so you don't get bored with it.
Anyways, well i'm out, hope this was helpful to my fellow quick fix dieters.
Let me know what you think about my feelings on the "Cabbage Soup Diet" & how you are feeling too.
Thanks for taking some of your time to check it out!!
